SGSA proudly participates in the Partners in Prevention Project (PIPP), an initiative led by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Office of Behavioral Health Prevention and Federal Grants (DBHDD-OBHPFG) to prevent substance abuse in the state. Over a span of five years, we implement SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), a comprehensive methodology focused on sustainability and cultural competence.
Through evidence-based individual and environmental strategies, a strategically developed workforce, and collaborative community efforts, our contracted agencies aim to create lasting change in the communities we serve. Georgia's statewide assessment data highlights early onset alcohol use, abuse, and binge drinking as significant public health concerns. PIPP targets three statewide goals:
- Reducing early onset alcohol use among 9-20-year-olds
- Reducing access to alcohol and binge drinking among 9-20-year-olds
- Reducing binge and heavy drinking among 18-25-year-olds
This community-centered approach empowers communities to develop and implement sustainable outcome-based prevention strategies.
